Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Mama Seattle DEI Mission Statement
MAMA Seattle values, celebrates and works to advance diversity, equity and inclusion. We address the problems of bias, systemic inequities and underrepresentation in the legal profession through our mission of supporting mother attorneys and law students who seek to enter, maintain or transition throughout their careers in the legal profession.
MAMA Seattle is committed to including, retaining, empowering, promoting and providing mentorship, support and guidance to talented lawyers with diverse backgrounds and experiences. At MAMA Seattle, diversity encompasses a variety of characteristics and perspectives, inclusive of marital status, race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, family structure, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, age, education, veteran status, disability and socio-economic status.
Diversity for MAMA Seattle also means providing programming and support for a wide variety of practice areas, including solo, government, in-house, law students, beyond JD, private practice, law firms and corporate legal departments, as well as our members not currently working outside the home.
We work collaboratively with our fellow Minority Bar Associations to make a greater impact on promoting and advancing diverse individuals and careers in the legal profession, and are unified by our shared enthusiasm in the practice of law in our collective community.
