2012 Sixth Annual Banquet
October 24, 2012
The Mother Attorneys Mentoring Association of Seattle celebrated our Sixth Annual Banquet on October 24, 2012, at the Grand Hyatt in Seattle. MAMA Seattle presented its Leadership and Justice Award to The Honorable Jenny Durkan, United States Attorney, Western District of Washington. MAMA Seattle’s Leadership and Justice Award is given to an individual who has paved the way to success for and has served as an inspiration to other women attorneys striving to excel in their legal careers while balancing family demands. Ms. Durkan is exemplary as both a mother attorney and as a leader in our legal community, and MAMA Seattle was honored to present her with the 2012 Leadership and Justice Award. Introductory comments were provided by The Honorable Bobbe J. Bridge, President & CEO Center for Children & Youth Justice.
At the 2012 Annual Banquet, MAMA Seattle also celebrated Rachel Black, MAMA Seattle’s 2012 Board President. Rachel Black co-founded MAMA Seattle in 2006 with Lorraine Lewis Phillips, and then served as MAMA Seattle’s Board President until 2012. Since MAMA Seattle was founded, Ms. Black has worked tirelessly leading MAMA Seattle’s Board and working on behalf of MAMA Seattle members, and she has become an inspiration to mother attorneys everywhere. Ms. Black will continue to serve on the MAMA Seattle Board, moving into the role of Immediate Past President in 2013.
